How it works

Clear follow-up, all through the training.

You know where your staff stand, what has been worked on and how the training is developing.

I send you follow-up reports at several points in the course, with the information your HR teams, your managers and, where needed, your OPCO will want.

Three moments for following the course

  1. Before the training starts

    The map of the levels

You receive the participants' initial placing on the CEFR, the groups proposed and the main training objectives.

    01

  2. Halfway through

    The interim report

An interim report on attendance, the objectives worked on, the progress observed and any adjustments to plan for.

    02

  3. At the end of the cycle

    The training report

A summary of the course: starting level, level reached, progress by skill and recommendations for what follows.

    03

Four skills followed separately

An overall level does not always tell the whole story of the progress. Someone can be very much at ease in writing and still need to work on speaking up.

The follow-up therefore keeps the four main skills apart.

Listening comprehension

Understanding a meeting, an instruction, a conversation or a phone call.

Speaking

Taking the floor, explaining a situation, asking for a detail or rephrasing.

Reading comprehension

Understanding an email, a professional document, a letter or a written instruction.

Writing

Writing an email, a reply, a note or a message suited to the situation.

The end-of-cycle review

What matters, to understand the progress.

The report gathers what you need to take stock of the training and decide what comes next.

  1. 01Attendance over the period.
  2. 02The starting level on the CEFR.
  3. 03The level observed at the end of the course.
  4. 04The progress in each of the four skills.
  5. 05The objectives worked on, and those still to consolidate.
  6. 06My recommendations for what follows.

Proof of attendance and the administrative documents required are sent separately when the scheme calls for them.

Follow-up focused on the training

The reports account for the progress in French and for the teaching objectives worked on.

They are not a professional appraisal of the member of staff and do not try to measure their performance in the job.

Progress also depends on the starting level, on the pace of the training and on the time given to French between sessions. The follow-up therefore records what has been gained and adapts what follows, rather than promising a precise level in advance.
